We Meet You Where You Are

As a university focused on serving the needs of working adults, we know that plenty of learning takes place outside of the classroom. We also know that the wage gap between college-degree earners and high-school diploma holders continues to widen. At Franklin, we connect the job-specific credentials you’ve earned, and the college credits you need, to provide a seamless path to degree completion.

Prior Learning Assessment is a process used to evaluate the knowledge that you gain through professional training, certificates, certifications and licensure programs against specific course outcomes to be able to award college credit toward a degree. Credit for prior learning acknowledges your life experience and saves you time and money toward a degree.

Franklin University awards prior learning credit based on recommendation services from the American Council on Education (ACE) and National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) and adheres to the Ohio Department of Higher Education Career-Technical Credit Transfer guarantees. The university evaluates experiences from accredited institutions*.

$6M in Savings

Since 2017, Franklin students have saved more than $6 million by using prior learning credit to satisfy degree requirements.
