Accounting
welchd@franklin.edu

Dr. Welch earned his Doctorate in Business Administration in Accounting from Argosy University and his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business Administration from East Tennessee State University. His doctoral dissertation focused on the relative effectiveness of the various federal whistle-blower-protection laws.

Dave was the first person in history to be awarded whistle-blower protection under the then newly enacted Sarbanes-Oxley Act.  As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Dave has a keen interest in business ethics.

As a Lead Faculty member at Franklin, Dave shares his extensive experience and personal knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley with students in the University's Accounting, Forensic Accounting, and Business Forensics majors, and often lectures on the subject for various organizations.

Prior to  joining the faculty at Franklin, Dave taught accounting, finance, and strategic planning courses at the community college and university levels while working full-time in the corporate world.
