Dr. Tom Hrubec is the Program Chair for the Business Forensics and Forensic Accounting programs at Franklin.  Tom holds both a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and a Master of Accounting Science from Northern Illinois University and a Doctorate in Education from Illinois State University.  His professional credentials include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Tom has over 20 years of experience in teaching and consulting in accounting and accounting education.  In 1992, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from the Illinois CPA Society.  Prior to coming to Franklin University, Tom was a consultant to Caterpillar, Inc. on their College of Accounting initiative where he designed and developed the web-based course materials to create a complete, organizationally-specific, on-line accounting curriculum to accommodate the educational needs of Caterpillar's worldwide accounting staff.  This initiative won the division's Award for Excellence.  Tom is also the co-author of two managerial accounting assessment books.

Primary responsibilities included instructional design, project management (e.g., budgeting, personnel assignment, client relationship management) and providing other consulting expertise (e.g., cost analysis, contingency planning).

1998-2002 Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, IL, College of Accounting project-Consultant. Designed and developed the web-based course materials to create a complete, organizationally-specific, on-line accounting curriculum to accommodate the educational needs of Caterpillar's worldwide accounting staff. Also included the design and development of an on-line reference library to support the curriculum. Project won the division's Award for Excellence in 2001.
