Franklin University Board of Trustees

 Mr. Flynn joined the board in 2002 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board. In addition, he serves on the Communications and Advancement Committee.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University in 1971.  Mr. Flynn retired after serving 33 years for Ross Products, a Division of Abbott Laboratories, a leading global broad based healthcare company.  Mr. Flynn resides in the Central Ohio area where he also serves on numerous community boards.

Ms. Duchi has extensive background in both the private and public sectors.  She joined Battelle in 1977 and retired from the organization 34 years later as the Vice President of Operations and Systems Services.  Ms. Duchi has volunteered her time toward both professional and personal interests by serving as Board member for the Battelle National Biodefense Institute; as a Franklin Park Conservatory Trustee; as a board member for both the Central Ohio Regional Science and Engineering Fair and Edison Welding Institute boards; and on a number of committees and boards for the city of Upper Arlington.  Ms. Duchi earned her MBA in Finance and Quantitative Methods from The Ohio State University and her BBA in Finance from the University of Michigan.  Ms. Duchi serves as the Vice-Chairman for the Franklin Board of Trustees as well as chairing the Infrastructure Committee. She also serves on the Academic/Student Committee and the Finance Committee at Franklin. 

Ms. Doody is President of Lindey’s Restaurant in German Village.  She received the YWCA Woman of Achievement in 1992 and was named Restaurateur of the Year by Central Ohio Restaurant Association in 1994.  Two of her four children have followed in her footsteps as entrepreneurs in the restaurant business.  As a Franklin Trustee, Ms. Doody is Secretary of the Board as well as a member of the Academic/Student Committee, the Ad-Hoc Bylaws Committee, and the Audit, Controls and Compliance Committee.

Mr. James is an alum of Franklin University and currently serves as the Immediate Past Chairman of the Board and now chairs the Committee on Trusteeship Governance and serves on the Partnership Committee. He is founder and President of Dynalab, Inc., a manufacturer of computer hardware and electronic test equipment; President of GPAX, Inc., a manufacturer of an automation packaging system; President of JAAS Systems, a publisher of manufacturing software; and a board member of MD Systems, a medical device manufacturer.  Mr. James has served as President of Kiwanis, Treasurer of National Church Residences, and in numerous other community organizations. 

Dr. David R. Decker serves as the fourth President of Franklin University. Prior to coming to Franklin he held a number of positions at the New York Institute of Technology, including playing a key role in their internationalization and development of their online presence.

Dr. Decker has also held positions at Youngstown State University, as well as at three other universities, and has international teaching experience in China, Malaysia, Russia, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Brazil, and Jordan.

Mr. Cartner is a past chairman of Franklin’s Board of Trustees. He currently serves on the Communication and Advancement Committee, Infrastructure Committee, the Committee on Trusteeship Governance, and the Ad-Hoc Bylaws Committee.  He is President of MoTrim, Inc., which manufacturers boom-type hydraulic mowing machinery, headquartered in Cambridge, Ohio with an additional plant in Florida.  Mr. Cartner is a Franklin University alum and resides in Cambridge with his wife.

Ms. Crane is a community advocate currently serving on the boards of Goodwill Columbus, Upper Arlington Community Foundation, and the Columbus Foundation Reese-Shackelford Supporting Organization. She has also served on numerous other boards, including Planned Parenthood of Central Ohio/Greater Ohio, Columbus School for Girls, and I Know I Can.  She is highly active with the Crane Group, which was founded by her grandfather.

Prior to leaving the corporate world, Ms. Crane worked in Chicago (IL) for Kraft General Foods/Kraft USA where she led the brand management for several multi-million dollar product lines, and developed the strategic plan and coordinated the major planning projects for a multi-billion dollar division.

Ms. Crane holds an MBA in Marketing from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, at Northwestern University (IL), and a BS in Marketing and Management from Indiana University.  Ms. Crane and husband Tim Miller reside in Columbus, and are the proud parents of Taylor and Hailey.

Ms. Davidson served as co-chairperson of the Republican National Committee and served over twenty years in the legislature.  She was Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives from January 1995 through December 2000, and serves on numerous boards, including Franklin University’s.  She consults on public policy development and analysis, strategic planning, and political campaigns through her firm, JAD and Associates.  Ms. Davidson serves on the Finance Committee. 

Mr. Fankhauser is co-founder and principal of both The EPCON Group, Inc. and EPMARK, Inc. located in Dublin, Ohio.  He has over 30 years experience in real estate development and construction.  Mr. Fankhauser is an alum of Franklin University and currently serves on the Communications and Advancement Committee as well as the Infrastructure Committee. 

Ted Ford is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in government, marketing, higher education, and public-private partnerships. Ted currently serves as a CEO for Advanced Energy Economy Ohio, a state-wide trade group involved in the development and financing of advanced energy projects. Previously, Ted served as TechColumbus’s first CEO and as President and CEO of Edison Welding Institute, a nationally recognized independent engineering research and development organization. As Senior Vice President for University Advancement at Northern Arizona University in the late 1990’s, he led the development launch of the institution’s first capital campaign which raised $100 million. He has served as a business development professional, legislative advocate, legislative staffer, and executive assistant to the Governor of Ohio. He is also a regional affiliate director for BioOhio. He received his undergrad and his Master’s at The Ohio State University. Ted serves the Franklin Board of Trustees as the Chair of the Ad-Hoc Bylaws Committee and serves on the Academic/Student committee.

Mr. Gonsalves is currently working as an independent marketing consultant. He has an extensive marketing background, which is highlighted in his previous position as the Chief Marketing Officer for Allied Insurance, Titan Insurance, Nationwide Commercial, Nationwide Specialty, and Nationwide Agribusiness in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mr. Gonsalves also served as the Vice President for Marketing Strategy & Planning for Nationwide in Columbus, Ohio. As a Franklin Trustee, Mr. Gonsalves currently serves on Franklin's Academic/Student Committee as well as the Communications and Advancement Committee.

Mr. Griffin is a principal founder, President, and CEO of Dynamix Engineering Ltd., and brings more than 30 years of engineering experience to the company.

Mr. Griffin has served on numerous boards including the Children's Hunger Alliance and Boy Scouts of America. He is a graduate of Franklin University (1984).

Mr. Hagen is the regional executive and president of Dublin Methodist Hospital and Delaware's Grady Memorial Hospital. He is responsible for coordinating OhioHealth's growth in the northern areas served by the hospital system. He has more than 30 years experience in the healthcare industry. He is a fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives, and has been affiliated with many community service programs including the Board of Directors of the Grand Rapids Community College Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Gerald R. Ford Council of Boy Scouts. He is currently serving Franklin's Board on the Academic/Student Committee and the Audit, Controls and Compliance Committee.

Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, Ms. Huang serves as President of 889 Global Solutions, a consultancy/importer providing strategic advice and sourcing clients headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with five offices and representatives in China. Her extensive contacts in consulting, government, manufacturing and actual operation experience give her unique value.

Her experience includes negotiation, translation, and advisory work on a number of Chinese direct investments into a U.S. Multimodal Cargo Airport and Foreign Trade Zone area in Ohio.

Mr. Jauchius is the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer with Nationwide Insurance. He is responsible for the overall strategic leadership for $20 billion (revenue) diversified financial services at Nationwide. Mr. Jauchius earned his MBA from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. Mr. Jauchius is a Certified Public Accountant and resides in Worthington with his wife and three children. Mr. Jauchius chairs the Communication and Advancement Committee for Franklin University.

Mr. Johnson has more than 25 years experience in manufacturing and supply chain management, and serves as Director of Manufacturing, North America Refinish for PPG Industries.

Mr. Johnson is located at the Delaware, Ohio, facility, which currently employs approximately 400 associates and is the largest industrial employer in the Delaware area. He serves on numerous boards, including Recreation Unlimited and the Delaware County Red Cross.

Mr. Jones is a past Chairman of the Board and currently chairs the Personnel Committee. He is retired Senior Vice President for The Dispatch Printing Company. Jones, a Franklin alumnus (1985), is a veteran of the United States Air Force and currently serves on the Boards of the American Red Cross and United Way of Franklin County.

Ms. Keitch has over 25 years of banking experience, serving in various management and leadership roles at Huntington National Bank including Indiana Regional President and East Retail Area Manager. In her current role as the Senior Vice President and Retail In-Store Channel Director, Cindy develops and executes the Retail Banking strategy to meet financial goals within the in-store sales and service delivery channels. As a vice president and director, she develops initial business strategies, manages operations of plan execution, and routinely partners with business leaders to evaluate current and future business environments. Prior to joining Huntington in 1994, Cindy held various positions with Fifth Third Bank and National City Bank. She received her bachelor’s degree in Finance from Franklin University in 2004.

Mr. Lashutka is a past Chairman of the Board and serves on the committees for Partnerships, Committee on Trusteeship Governance, and advises the Ad-Hoc Bylaws Committee. Currently, Greg serves as a Senior Consultant with Findlay Davies, a human resource consulting firm. He retired as Senior Vice President for Corporate Relations at Nationwide.  Before joining Nationwide, he served as Mayor of the City of Columbus, Ohio; being elected for two consecutive terms.  Prior to being mayor, Mr. Lashutka was a partner with the law firm of Squire, Sanders & Dempsey following his two terms as Columbus City Attorney.  Mr. Lashutka was co-captain of The Ohio State University football team and later played professionally for the Buffalo Bills.  Mr. Lashutka earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, a juris doctorate from Capital University Law School, and in 1999 was awarded an Honorary Degree of Law from The Ohio State University.  Mr. Lashutka continues to be involved with many community organizations and has been honored with numerous national and community awards. Mr. Lashutka was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Community Leadership from Franklin University in 2011.

Clarke Price is a Franklin alum, having received his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. In December of 2012, Clarke retired as the President and CEO of the Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA).  During his 40-year career with OSCPA, Clarke has worked in virtually all areas of the operation, including public relations, membership, governmental relations and marketing.  Before joining the Ohio Society of CPAs, Clarke was an Account Executive with a New Jersey-based advertising agency and he is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Public Information Specialist. Clarke currently serves as Chair of the Board of the State Societies Network (SSNI) and Shared Services LLC (SSLLC). In the past, he was the Chairman of the America Society of Association Executives where he served on several committees, was a founding member of the CEO Center, and was made an ASAE Fellow, an honor given to less than one percent of ASAE members. Mr. Price currently serves the Franklin Board of Trustees as chair of the Audit, Controls and Compliance Committee.

Mr. Roche retired from his position as Senior Vice President, Finance at Chemical Abstracts Services in 2008.  Prior to joining Chemical Abstracts, Mr. Roche served as Vice President, Accounting & Finance for Honda of America Manufacturing and Senior Manager Tax Consultant with Peat Marwick; a tax consultant for the CPA firms of Frank, Seringer & Chaney and Hammersmith, Roche & Jenkins.  Mr. Roche also serves on the board of Catholic Social Services as the chair of the Finance Committee and member of the Executive Committee; and serves as the treasurer for St Gabriel Radio, Inc.  Mr. Roche serves Franklin as the Chair of the Finance Committee and serves on the Partnerships Committee. 

Mr. Ruhlin is President of J.B. Ruhlin & Associates, manufacturers’ representatives for health care equipment. A former Board Chair, Mr. Ruhlin is a Franklin alumnus and currently serves on the Academic/Student Committee, Infrastructure Committee, and the Committee on Trusteeship Governance.

Mr. Sanese is President of Sanese Services, Inc., a family-owned foodservices and vending company.  He is a board member of the Simon Kenton Council of the Boy Scouts of America and is active in several other civic organizations.  Mr. Sanese, a Franklin University alumnus, serves on the Infrastructure Committee and the Personnel Committee.

Pamela Springer, CEO of Columbus-based Manta, has more than 20 years of experience building and growing technology-based companies. (KKR Investment), Litton Enterprise Solutions, and Metatec, Inc. In 2000, she earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Franklin University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Pam serves the Franklin Board of Trustees  as the Chair of the Partnerships Committee.

Ms. Watkins serves as Chief Human Resources Officer of Cardinal Health, Inc., a 99 billion-dollar Fortune 17 company with over 35,000 employees worldwide. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, she spent more than two decades in human resources with companies including The Limited, Lazarus, and Huntington Bank.

A Franklin alumnus, Ms. Watkins serves on the Boards of Flying Horse Farms and the Childhood League, the Leadership Development Committee of the American Heart Association's Great River Affiliate, and Executive Leadership team for the Go Reds Luncheon. She also served for more than 10 years on the Board of Action For Children, serving for two as Board President.
