Franklin University, a leading educator of working adults, is pleased to announce the addition of its new M.Ed. in Educational Leadership-Principal Licensure program. Designed for busy teachers driven to lead, Franklin’s M.Ed. in Educational Leadership-Principal Licensure program combines online master’s courses with an on-site internship to help busy teachers qualify for principal licensure in Ohio.

The Educational Leadership-Principal Licensure program provides an understanding of educational leadership theories, organizational management, and strategies for creating a positive and inclusive school culture. Because the 12-month, online M.Ed. curriculum is aligned with the National Educational Leadership Preparation Program (NELP) Recognition Standards, students acquire proven methods to create environments that foster learning by supporting teachers, allocating resources and creating systems conducive to learning and achievement. Students also learn about key competencies for success as a leader in education and the significance of constraints like ethics, laws, and values.

The principal licensure program concludes with a 12-week internship under the supervision of a principal within the student’s school or district. Further, students will be able to satisfy internship requirements while adding value to the school community by completing a school improvement project. During the internship term, students who possess a valid teaching license and two prior years of teaching experience will also be eligible to sit for the Ohio Assessment for Educators exam to receive a principal’s license.
