Campus Security Act
This information pertains to the Campus Security Act. Franklin University makes this information available to all students, employees, and applicants for enrollment or employment, as required by the United States Department of Education. See the U.S. Department of Education's Postsecondary Education Web site for detailed statistics on Franklin's campus security.
- The University places a high priority on safety. In an effort to make the campus safe, students and employees should periodically inspect their surroundings; become familiar with all safety and health procedures; identify and report unsafe conditions in writing to the Director of Safety and Security Services; and, report accidents immediately to the Director of Safety and Security Services and/or the Director of Human Resources.
Security officers regularly patrol buildings, lots and grounds to ensure a safe environment. Observations regarding security and safety are reported by the officers to the Director of Safety and Security Services for resolution.
New Phone Numbers for Campus Security
Beginning Monday, August 25, Franklin University changed the phone numbers used to access Franklin Security Officers. This change was implemented to decrease the likelihood of reaching voice mail when trying to contact an on-duty Franklin Security Officer - an issue that exists in the previous security phone system.
The new number to reach the Main Campus security officer is 947.6902.
A security officer will be on duty at each suburban location Monday - Thursday from 7:15 - 10:15 p.m. If there is no security officer on duty, the call will go to the location's front desk.
The Delaware location number is 947.6907.
The Dublin location number is 947.6905.
The Westerville location number is 947.6906.
The new number to reach Rob Geis, Director of Safety and Security Services, is 947.6901.
As always, if you are in a life-threatening situation, call 9-1-1 FIRST before calling campus security.
To further prepare the University in the event of an emergency, Emergency Management Guides are now available in all classrooms at the Main Campus, downtown, Delaware, Dublin and Westerville locations.
- Franklin University's Security Force is comprised of off-duty City of Columbus police officers. Officers maintain all of the authorities granted them by the City of Columbus Police Department while on campus.
- The University will communicate safety tips and information via Connections, the biweekly student newsletter, and bulletin boards located in common areas throughout the campus. Communications to faculty and staff are made via Update, the internal newsletter.
