Start a New Organization

A new organization on campus can be started at any time. Simply follow the few simple steps outlined below:

  1. Inform the Vice President for Students Office that you would like to start a new organization by calling 614.947.6758, 1.877.341.6300 (toll-free) or email CondoMar@franklin.edu.
  2. Develop a constitution comprised of:
    1. Proposed name of the organization
    2. Mission statement and/or purpose
    3. Student membership requirements
    4. Titles and roles of officers
    5. Officer responsibilities
    6. Elections of Officers
    7. Meetings
    8. Faculty Advisor
  3. Submit your constitution to the Vice President for Students Office for review and approval.
  4. Complete the Officer Registration Form for your student group and file it with the Vice President for Students Office.

Though student organizations are subsidized by the university, the majority of their activities are funded through their own fund-raising efforts and student membership fees. The university supports organizations in the following manner:

  • Provide each organization with a checking account and $200.00 annually
  • Supply organizations with Franklin labels, letterhead and envelopes once per term upon request
