Public Service Librarian

Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a Public Service Librarian who can supervise and direct the Circulation Team for the Franklin University Nationwide Library.  The Library maintains an informal atmosphere and is a welcoming place.  The Library is a member of OhioLINK.  With OhioLINK, the Library is a member of a consortium of 87 institutions including 16 public universities, 23 community/technical colleges, 47 private colleges and the State Library of Ohio.

The responsibilities of the Public Service Librarian also include maintaining and creation of new policies for the Public Service area, coordinating and managing all OhioLINK circulation functions, resolving fine and book replacement fees, participating in consortial meetings including subscribing to listservs and supervising the creation of the Library reference and circulation desk schedules.  This position also provides reference assistance at the front desk, responsibility for collection development, and coordinates the physical condition of the Library.  The Public Service Librarian also coordinates the maintenance of circulation statistics, works collaboratively with the Registrar and Business offices and participates in professional development opportunities.

The required qualifications of this position include a Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA - accredited program; 2-3 years supervisory experience, familiarity with print and electronic resources, demonstrated experience in goal setting, good oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to public service and teamwork.  The preferred qualifications include experience with Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Millennium integrated library system and experience providing reference assistance in an academic setting.
