Senior Web Developer (Content Management)
Franklin University’s Web Development team is looking for a highly effective Senior Web Developer to lead their content management development team. This person will participate in the overall strategy, standardization, analysis, design and implementation of the technologies supporting the delivery of content to various University web sites.
Duties and Responsibilities include leading large-scale web application design efforts; interaction with customers, project stakeholders, and various other University constituencies; and demonstrating expertise with a broad set of development tools/technologies including Vignette and J2EE. This candidate will assist the Director in establishing team goals, objectives, and budget, as well as manage and direct a team of Web Developers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team with negotiation and facilitation
• Firm understanding of design methods and architecture skills
• Good analytical, oral and written communications skills required
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
• Above average problem solving skills are necessary to work with problems of scope and complexity where analysis of the data requires an evaluation of identifiable factors in situations that may present some new material.
• Strong customer centric philosophy
• Experience in a Windows, Linux, Novell multi-platform environment
Credentials and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience. (Master’s degree preferred)
• 7+ years experience in web application development with Java, JSP, Servlets
• 3+ years experience with Vignette or complimentary enterprise content management system (e.g., Interwoven, Documentum, FileNet, Day, etc.) strongly desired
• Proficient in HTML, AJAX, CSS, and JavaScript
• Intermediate Linux/Unix skills
• Strong SQL skills required
• OOA/D (including UML modeling) with background in formal development process
• Understanding of networking concepts and web security
• Ability to leverage open source tools to increase productivity
• A strong understanding of content management solutions experience preferred
