Why did you choose Franklin University?
I first heard about Franklin’s Community College Alliance (CCA) Program from my advisor at Chatfield College in St. Martin, Ohio. She told me I could finish my bachelor’s degree online without interfering with my schedule, which was perfect because I didn’t want to leave my job or my family to go away to school. My boyfriend and I were the first students to enter the CCA Program from Chatfield, and I’m so glad we did. It was a huge success!
Why did you decide to return to college?
Most people would argue that it helps to have a bachelor’s degree to advance in the business world. I work as an office manager and accountant for my father’s company, and he wants me to step in to run the family business with him — and for him after he retires. To be ready for this challenge, I knew I needed to earn my degree. Since my dad earned his bachelor’s degree with high honors, he always encouraged me to continue my education as well. I think he wanted me to follow in his footsteps in more ways than one!
Any thoughts about Franklin’s learning process?
Earning my degree was a lot of hard work! But Franklin did not waste my time. Learning in an online classroom allowed me to work at my own pace–and I really enjoyed working on individual projects. Everything I studied was something I could use on the job, enhancing business operations even before graduation. I learned the most in my Business Capstone course, where I put all the concepts I learned together to create a large-scale financial analysis for a major publicly traded company.
What was your overall experience with Franklin?
I am more than satisfied with my Franklin experience. The business skills I learned will help me effectively manage and expand my family’s business, and will pave my way to success for my entire career. My dad (and the rest of my family) is so proud of me. I am the first one of four daughters to earn my degree. Thanks, Franklin!
