Why did you choose Franklin University?
I transferred the credits I earned at Columbus State Community College toward Franklin for four reasons. First, I like the Marketing curriculum. Second, so many of my credits were honored that I was only a year away from getting my bachelor’s degree. Third, the class schedules work with my busy job schedule. Fourth, the small class sizes help me stay focused.

Why did you decide to return to college?
I enjoy life and work hard, but now that I’m seeing many of my friends getting established in their careers, I’m ready to get serious about my own career and earn my bachelor’s degree. My plans are to build on the knowledge I’ve gained from my years in the food service industry and get into the event planning business.

What kind of commitments did you have in addition to school?
I work at a popular restaurant in a suburb north of Columbus. The hours are long, but it’s fun because every day is different. I’ve been promoted twice since starting my classes at Franklin — from server to dining room supervisor to manager. I really enjoy the leadership role and have more confidence because of school.

How did you feel about being an adult student?
It’s helpful that so many of the students in my classes are already successful professionals, because I get a lot out of what they share in relation to their jobs and lives. I’m learning from them as much as from the coursework.

Any thoughts about Franklin’s learning process?
The Marketing classes are helping me reach my career goals. I’m improving my communication skills, increasing my understanding of basic marketing principles, and, as one classmate said, “Putting some polish on my professionalism.”

What is your overall experience with Franklin?
I’m excited to be on this road to finally completing my bachelor’s degree, and thrilled that Franklin makes it so easy. My future looks bright!
