| Cassandra Kocab Sergeant Ohio State Highway Patrol B.S. in Organizational Leadership MBA Student Why did you choose Franklin University? I’m all about efficiency, and so is Franklin! Not only do Franklin’s flexible schedules work with my career, the Joint Programs of Study lets me learn more in less time. It’s taking me fewer credit hours to earn both my bachelor’s degree and my MBA than it would if I pursued them separately. Some of the courses in the Organizational Leadership major were taught at the master’s level and count toward Franklin’s MBA. So now that I’ve finished my bachelor’s degree, I’m on track to graduate from the Vantage MBA® Program in 2008. How does what you are learning relate to your profession? I love what I’ve learned so far – and what I’m still learning. The law enforcement community encourages leading by example, and the Organizational Leadership classes helped me improve my people skills, think more strategically in my work setting, and consider the pros and cons of actions in a big-picture way. The MBA courses are building on that by helping me develop even better leadership skills so I conduct myself with greater authority. Any thoughts about the curriculum? How the classes are taught? I like how the classes are taught in a business-like way in a business-like environment. I also like being surrounded by professionals from all walks of life. The maturity my classmates bring to the discussions makes the learning experience very in-depth. Plus, I’ve made some good friends along the way. How do you feel about being an adult student? Well, I got married not too long ago. My husband is extremely supportive of my dedication to my career and the time I spend working on my education. I feel like I’m at a great place in life: happily married, working at a job I love, and learning the skills I need to keep growing professionally. Who could ask for more? |
