Great Lakes Regional OTI Education Center Names Franklin University's Indianapolis Location a Host Site For OSHA Training
IIndianapolis, Indiana – Enhancing the safety and health of workers in the Indianapolis area through education is the goal of a new host site designation granted by the University of Cincinnati, Great Lakes Regional OSHA Training Institute Education Center, upon Franklin University’s Indianapolis location. As a host training site, Franklin University’s Indianapolis location will join a consortium of host training sites for the University of Cincinnati, the Department of Environmental Health Continuing Education Office, to deliver training aimed at reducing workplace safety hazards and incidents.
“Training and education are vital components in workplace safety," said Dr. Garry McDaniel, Associate Dean of Franklin’s Center for Professional Training and Development. "Being named a host site by The Great Lakes Regional OTI Education Center will allow Franklin University to take a role in providing Indianapolis’ workers with the knowledge and ability to identify and prevent hazardous conditions before they cause injury or illness." Dr. Judy L. Jarrell, Professor and Director of Health & Safety OSHA/ERC Continuing Education in the Department of Environmental Health, College of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati stated, “we were impressed by Franklin University’s commitment to worker safety and health and welcome their program as a host training site to increase our capacity to meet the need for this valuable training.”
Under the rules of the Great Lakes consortium, Franklin University and the University of Cincinnati will work jointly to develop and deliver training and education programs focusing on workplace hazards related to OSHA’s General Industry standards.
