Franklin University Library Services provides a variety of resources to assist you in your academic journey at Franklin University. The first step in acquainting yourself to Library Services is to read the Quickstart Guide and explore the Library Passport.

If you need help with research, the Library Services staff is dedicated to helping you navigate the many resources available at your fingertips. All workshops are open to both undergraduate and graduate students unless specifically noted as being designed for a particular population. Writing and Researching Effectively

This workshop will be offered online via FranklinLIVE! two times during the Summer 2011 term. Select one of the following options when registering:

  • Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 7—9pm
  • Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 7—9pm

Attend this session to:

  • Learn about the services offered by the Student Learning Center and Library Services
  • Get hands on experience with selecting and narrowing a research topic
  • Learn how to form an effective thesis statement
  • Develop a research strategy to find sources to support your thesis

Graduate Library and Writing Essentials

Faculty Resources

Do You Know What Students Know? Library and Research Tips

Do you know how to set up e-mail alerts for articles? Locate a specific publication within the library databases? Attend this session to learn tips and tools to make using Library databases easier, such as using the thesaurus feature and "wild cards" to improve your results. Web research tips and APA tools will also be discussed and common research problems and their solutions will be presented.

Customizing Your Online Library Experience

Are you interested in setting up free personal accounts in online Library resources that will allow your research to come to you? During this workshop the customization features of your favorite databases will be explained including:

  • Setting up e-mail alerts for new library acquisitions, saved searches and journal articles.
  • Setting up an RSS feed.
  • Creating your own citation database.
  • Creating "folders" to organize and share your research with others.

Are you an instructor that would like to schedule a library tour or workshop for your class? If so, use the Library Orientation Request Form to submit your request.

Library Project Request

Staff, faculty and instructors with research needs exceeding normal reference services (require more that one hour of a librarian's time to complete) can use the Library Resource Request Form to submit your request for assistance.
