Desktop Technician

Franklin University is seeking a highly motivated, full-time Desktop Technician to provide technology support for faculty, staff, and lab computer systems. Hours of the position will be Monday - Thursday 10:30 am to 7 pm and Friday 9 am to 5:30 pm

Responsibilities include:

  • Timely installation and repair of computer system hardware, operating systems, software and peripherals
  • Effective use of an established ticket system to efficiently manage assigned service requests
  • Testing of new software and hardware for compatibility
  • Timely escalation of high impact or VIP technology issues
  • Maintaining and building positive customer relationships
  • Providing a weekly status report to Supervisor
  • Developing, documenting, and implementing technology processes and procedures
  • Work closely across IT teams to ensure effective communication and project escalation

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months technician experience
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ or Microsoft MCP certification preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task

  • Willingness to embrace change
  • Team Player
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and listening skills
  • Associate's degree preferred but not required
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds (monitors, printers, scanners, etc.)
