Linux System Administrator

Franklin University seeks a Linux System Administrator to be the member of a team responsible for maintaining all RedHat Linux systems that support end-users’ access and use of production systems as well as the development team that writes software for those users. Webserver design and maintenance as well as the University e-mail systems are major aspects of services supported by this team.

The responsibilities of this position are:

• Operation of web servers
• Operation of e-mail services
• Maintaining user directory information (LDAP)
• Monitoring of servers
• On-going maintenance of servers – physical and virtual
• Installing RedHat Enterprise Linux on systems
• Enhancing operational services offered

The requirements of this position are:

• Working knowledge of Apache (Tomcat/JBoss a plus)
• Working knowledge of e-mail servers
• Knowledge of server hardware
• Familiarity with virtualization concepts
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Undergraduate degree in a technical field preferred
