English as a Second Language (ESL) Adjunct

Franklin University, located in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking part-time adjunct faculty members to teach courses in support of its growing global programs.  Franklin University, founded in 1902, promotes a student-centered, quality-teaching environment and is a leading educator of nontraditional students in Ohio and surrounding areas. The University is busy executing an ambitious strategic plan to expand educational opportunities to ever greater numbers of students across the country and around the world.

The University is seeking ESL instructors to teach an online Intermediate ESL and TOEFL prep course. Sections will run from late May through December, with training required before the start date. The course combines synchronous and asynchronous activities accessed through the Franklin Learning Management System.

To effectively teach the class requires skills and knowledge in these specific areas:

• Second language acquisition
• Language teaching methodology
• Computer-assisted language learning
• English grammar instruction

Required Qualifications:

The instructor must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, English, Linguistics, Foreign Languages, or a related field. Preference will be given to those with either a TESOL Certificate or extensive experience teaching ESL or EFL. Experience teaching online courses is also preferred.
