Maintenance Assistant

Franklin University has a position available for Maintenance Assistant to provide support in the upkeep and evolution of the University's physical campus.  The Maintenance Assistant will primarily be responsible for painting both the interior and exterior surfaces of campus buildings to achieve high-quality results.  This person will also hang and repair various types of wall coverings when needed.  In addition, the Maintenance Assistant will assist with grounds upkeep and general maintenance, plumbing and electrical repairs, data cabling, office moves, cleaning and policing buildings and grounds, drywall repair, light carpentry, miscellaneous repairs, snow removal, and other maintenance projects as necessary.


The successful candidate must have at least 2-3 years of experience with painting and drywall, including a working knowledge of surfaces and types of paint required, preparing surfaces for painting, and applying paint with spray gun, roller or brush.  Candidates must be able to physically perform the job duties assigned, and have basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.  Also needed is a basic mechanical aptitude, as well as the ability to operate maintenance, construction and landscaping equipment and tools.  The ideal candidate will also have a professional demeanor and customer focus, with the ability to work as part of a team and a dedication to perform tasks at a high-quality level.
