Public Safety Lead Faculty

As a private, non-profit institution, Franklin University invites applicant for an on-site, full-time, year-round position of Public Safety Lead Faculty, beginning immediately.  The faculty position will work closely with the Dean in an environment focused on teaching working adults.

Responsibilities include oversight of courses across the public safety programs: Criminal Justice Administration; Public Safety Management and Leadership; and Emergency Management and Homeland Security.  Duties include teaching assigned courses and hiring, mentoring, and managing adjunct faculty.  Other responsibilities include scheduling and staffing of courses and University Service/community work.  Faculty members work in collaboration with instructional designers, practitioners in the field, our in-house multi-media group and other members of the faculty to create adult-centered active-learning courses.  Research is not required, but is supported.

The Public Safety Lead Faculty position requires a Doctorate in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Public Administration or a closely related field of study.  Candidates who are ABD or candidates who are enrolled in a terminal degree program and have prior experience in the above areas may also be considered. A Juris Doctor is not sufficient to meet the education requirement for this position. Candidates should possess a minimum of five  years of experience in public safety such as law enforcement, corrections, fire service or emergency management.  Academic experience teaching related courses at a college or university and curriculum design experience are highly preferred.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach and serve as Lead Faculty in the Criminal Justice Administration Program.
