Student IT Assistant
Franklin University is seeking a highly motivated Franklin University student with excellent communication skills to assist our Technical Infrastructure and Network Services team with break/fix, hardware and software installation, administration, and documentation. In addition, the student assistant will assist in the implementation and administration of systems and services across the areas of MS Windows server, Linux server, Office 365 Email & SharePoint, networking, cabling, telephony, datacenter operations, and storage and backup.
Duties include basic administration of Linux and Windows operating systems, Office 365 Email and SharePoint, account management, backup system operations, documenting cabling in network wiring closets and devices attached to the network, maintaining device inventories, assisting in the configuration and deployment of new hardware such as servers, network switches, and IP telephones, and other related duties as required. This position is 19 hours a week Monday through Friday (hours may vary depending on need).
Successful candidates will have familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, good analytical and problem solving skills, work effectively as part of a team, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds. The ideal candidate will also have ongoing studies in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Candidate must be a current Franklin student and possess a strong customer-centered philosophy and have or develop an understanding of, and agreement with Franklin's relationship management principles and University values.
