Senior Network Engineer

Franklin University has a full-time position available for a Senior Network Engineer. Responsibilities include supporting the overall Network framework for the University which includes routers/switches and firewalls. This person will also be maintaining efficient and trouble free operations of the WAN/LAN and maintaining up-to-date documentation of Network design, operation and procedure manuals. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer may be involved in wiring network cables across various racks, installing new servers in their appropriate locations, and helping test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs. This person will also install switches, routers, and other networking gear.

The successful candidate will be familiar with operating systems like MS Windows 2000, MS Windows 2003, Solaris and Linux and related hardware platforms and applications. This position also requires the maintenance of CISCO CSS & SCA products and strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network monitoring, trending tools. Other qualifications include experience with WAN/LAN technologies and protocols, OSPF, RIP, BGP, HSRP, VPN, Switching, Trunking. VLAN, NAT, PAT, ACL, SNMP, T1, T3, DSL, ISDN, dial backups, leased lines and structured cabling. Skill in wireless networking is preferred, along with experience with Cisco PIX firewalls, IDS, and VPN products. A candidate for this position should also have knowledge of Data Center configuration and maintenance. This may include wiring network cables across various racks, installing new servers in their appropriate locations, helping test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs, install switches, routers, and other networking gear.

 A B.S.in Computer Science or a related field is required as well as 4-6 years in a computer related discipline and 2 years managerial and supervisory experience.  Certification as a CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP). CCIE is preferred, but not required. The candidate must possess and cultivate a strong customer-centered philosophy. The position requires a technically skilled individual with good analytical skills and a strong work ethic to join a team responsible for deploying and maintaining the 24/7 international operations at Franklin University.
