Franklin University seeks a Systems Administrator to support the University’s student and financial information systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the regular implementation of vendor supplied software updates. 
  • Coordinate the testing, documentation, communication, and implementation of administrative system upgrades prior to going to production. 
  • Perform various functions related to database management and administration. 
  • Work with various teams to integrate database and web-based access technologies. 
  • Design system architecture to analyze and build combined and distributed systems. 
  • Interface with departmental professionals for implementation or problem resolution in complex projects that require multiple technical disciplines. 
  • Monitor and verify completion of overnight processes.
  • Conduct performance analysis of design alternatives and system configurations, while conducting an in-depth analysis of algorithms and machine organizations of database systems. 
  • Download software updates using Datatel’s Express Load. 
  • Complete pre-install and post-install steps. 
  • Conduct unit tests on changes. 
  • Merge custom code with newly released code. 
  • Document changes for Change Management. 
  • Manage custom source code. 
  • Maintain user accounts, including adding and deleting, access changes, and security classes. 
  • Analyze problems and structure the convenient algorithm and programming methodologies to solve the problem. 

This position will utilize the following tools and technologies: C, C++, Java, Java Script, PERL, Shell Script, SQL, Oracle, VB, and VB.NET. Candidate will provide database maintenance including monitoring file status and resize/reindex files, as well as conduct periodic version upgrades of the database and vendor software. The position requires managing EZSpooler and upgrades, utilizing SQL and Oracle to perform system configuration, and providing definition and resolution of technical and procedural problems.

Specifications:

Requires a B.S. in Computer Science. Academic Coursework or experience must have included: (1) C and C++; (2) Java, JavaScript, and UNIX; (3) PERL, Shell Script, and SQL; and (4) Oracle, VB, and VB.NET.
