Technology Online Adjunct Faculty

Franklin University seeks applicants for part-time faculty positions to teach online classes in our Computer and Information Sciences programs, which include Computer Science, Digital Communication, Management Information Sciences, and Information Technology.

The University promotes a student-centered, quality-teaching environment, focused on working adults. Founded in 1902, Franklin University has been the leading educator of nontraditional students in central Ohio and enjoys the strong support of the local business community.

Successful online faculty utilize communication strategies such as email, instant messaging, bulletin boards, and blogs, as well as collaboration tools such as Elluminate Live!TM, to interact with distance students. Faculty need to be responsive to student questions and provide frequent and full feedback on assignments. Flexibility in communicating with online students is necessary since the Franklin model does not require students to participate in synchronous events.

Some particular areas where faculty are currently needed are:

  • Introductory programming in Visual Basic
  • Web authoring using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript
  • Computer competency using Microsoft Office products
  • UNIX administration
  • Network administration

Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree and five years of relevant work experience in the desired program area(s), comfort in the use of computer technology, and dedication to adult learners.

Submit a curriculum vitae or resume and cover letter indicating program area and specific courses of interest via email (as an attachment in MS Word format) to adjunct@franklin.edu. For immediate attention please enter the job title in the subject line of your email.
