Franklin University is proud to announce its newest international agreement to offer its MBA to students at Megatrend University in the Republic of Serbia, expanding Franklin’s role as a global institution of higher learning.
In a recent visit to the Republic of Serbia, Franklin University President Dr. David Decker and Senior Vice President for Planning and Global Programs Klaus Haberich met with the Rector and senior representatives of Megatrend University to sign the agreement.
Under the agreement, the Franklin MBA Program will be made available to students in the Republic of Serbia beginning in 2012 with classes held on Megatrend’s campus in Belgrade, the country’s capital. Classes will be taught in English by a combination of Columbus-based Franklin faculty members traveling to Serbia and local faculty members from Megatrend and other institutions across Europe.
“This agreement allows Franklin to assist Megatrend in realizing its goal to offer an American MBA to its students by sharing our expertise in providing access to practice-oriented, career-relevant education,” Haberich said. “Offering the Franklin MBA in Serbia enlarges our footprint in Eastern and Central Europe.”
Megatrend University is one of the largest private universities in Europe with more than 26,000 students. Campuses are located in Belgrade and other cities in Serbia. Megatrend offers professional and academic studies, as well as bachelor, master and doctoral degrees. Academic and scientific disciplines offered include business management, international economics, art and design, culture and media, public administration, and computer science. Today’s announcement strengthens the University’s global presence and further distinguishes Franklin as an innovator and leader in the export of higher education. This global presence was augmented in 2010 when the U.S. Department of State (DOS) designated Franklin a sponsor within the DOS Exchange Visitor Program (J-Visa). This designation provides the University with the opportunity to increase its mutual understanding through educational and cultural exchanges between the people of the U.S. and its international partner institutions.
This May 1 through May 12, MBA program coordinators from six of Franklin’s eight MBA partner universities will travel to the University’s Main Campus in downtown Columbus, Ohio, to participate in an academic and cultural exchange of ideas and to familiarize themselves with one another’s institutions. This exchange, made possible through the University’s J-Visa designation, facilitates efforts to keep Franklin abreast of what is happening in the world as well as better serve our students as they prepare for an increasingly global economy and workplace.
Franklin currently participates in agreements with the Wroclaw School of Banking in Poland, the University St. Kliment Ohridski-Bitola in Macedonia, the National Mining University (NMU) in the Ukraine, Okan University in Istanbul, Turkey, the University of Economics of Bratislava in Slovakia, Mangalore University in India, Sichuan University in China, Vietnam National University in Vietnam, and the Modern College of Business and Science in the Sultanate of Oman.About Franklin University
