Franklin University Announced Public Administration Major

Franklin University, a leading educator of working adults, is pleased to announce the addition of its new B.S.-Public Administration to its College of Health & Public Administration on-campus and online offerings beginning in Fall 2012.  

This multidisciplinary major uniquely prepares graduates for administrative and management positions in government and nonprofit organizations.  Practical administrative theory, real-world management skills, and in-depth expertise in an area of professional interest are taught through specialization courses selected from any degree area offered at Franklin.

The Public Administration Bachelor of Science degree is increasingly preferred by many government and nonprofit employers.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job growth in government management positions and the nonprofit sector is projected to exceed the national average.

By enrolling in Franklin’s Public Administration Major, students will be able to establish themselves in a growing field that emphasizes professionalism and serving the community, while developing administrative skills needed in the government and nonprofit sectors.

Covering a wide range of disciplines relevant to the public sector, this major will refine leadership skills and help graduates:

  • Apply legal and ethical principles and critical thinking to diverse public administration situations
  • Analyze diverse administrative situations using organizational theories and principles of management from multiple disciplines
  • Analyze budget and financial information for administrative decision making and reporting 
  • Apply leadership and management skills in administrative scenarios and to successfully complete group projects

Graduates of Franklin’s Information Systems Auditing Major will be well-qualified to hold positions as an Administrative Manager, Administrative Specialist, Budget Analyst, Community Relations Specialist, Deputy Assistant Director, Development Coordinator, Environmental Supervisor, Field Supervisor, Parks and Recreations Program Supervisor, or Volunteer Coordinator.

The B.S.-Public Administration is just one of the new undergraduate majors available at Franklin.  The University also added a B.S.-Social Media Design, a B.S.- Information Systems Auditing, and a B.S.- Healthcare Information Management to its Fall 2012 offerings.
