Columbus, Ohio - Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults in central Ohio, will hold its 130th Commencement Ceremony, during which nearly 700 degree candidates will receive their diplomas at Veterans Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, January 4.
Dr. Valeriana Moeller, President of Columbus State Community College (CSCC) will address the graduates. In her time as President, she has been committed to the mission of the comprehensive community college, promoting the mission through her leadership and vision.

As president, Dr. Moeller has been instrumental in developing new
programs to help address the community's need for a trained workforce.
She initiated Columbus State's Community Education/Workforce Development Division,
Ameritech Workforce+, and the creation of the college's Internet-based distance-learning program.
Prior to her service at Columbus State, Dr. Moeller
was Executive Vice President and Provost of Lansing
Community College. She has nearly two decades of
academic leadership experience at colleges in Michigan
and Minnesota.

Dr. Moeller serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of a number of organizations, including the Columbus Medical Association Foundation, the Columbus Technology Council, COSI, and the Capitol South Community Urban Development Corporation. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation, and Fifth Third Bank/Central Ohio.
Born in India, she was raised in Portugal, where she began her career in education as a high school chemistry teacher. She holds master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and master's and doctoral degrees from Northwestern University. She and her husband Bob live in Westerville, Ohio.
During the 130th Commencement Ceremony, Dr. Valeriana Moeller and Donald G. Dunn will both receive an Honorary Doctorate of Community Leadership from Franklin University.
Donald G. Dunn is the founder of Plaskolite, Inc., the largest privately owned U.S. manufacturer of continuously processed acrylic sheet. Founded in 1950 when Dunn was 27, Plaskolite originally produced drinking straws and fly swatters and eventually evolved to produce acrylic sheet, which is used to make light fixtures, windows, mirrors, military equipment, and building products.
In addition to leading the growth of Plaskolite, Dunn served as president of the boards of both The Gladden Community House and The Buckeye Boys Ranch and was co-founder of The Buckeye Boys Ranch Classic, a major tennis tournament which attracted the top tennis stars in the world.
Now retired, Dunn remains an active member of the Bexley United Methodist Church and is involved with the Harambee School and the Milton S. Friedman Foundation.
