Holds 132st
Commencement Ceremony

 

Columbus, Ohio - Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults, will hold its 132nd Commencement Ceremony, during which more than 600 degree candidates will receive their diplomas at Veterans Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, August 16.

Ryan Arens, graduating student speaker will address the graduates. Arens, who will be receiving his MBA during Sunday's ceremony, serves as a supervisor in the Continuity Marketing Operations Department at Verizon Wireless. He previously earned a B.A. in Economics from Denison University and was selected as a Franklin Leadership Scholar. Arens grew up in Upper Arlington and currently lives in Dublin, Ohio.

Honorary Degrees
Richard F. Celeste
Honorary Doctorate of Community Leadership

In addition to the conferring of degrees, Richard F. Celeste will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Community Leadership from Franklin University. Celeste began his term as 12th president of Colorado College in July 2002. Prior to joining CC, he served as the United States Ambassador to India. His public service experience also includes two terms as Governor of Ohio, service as Director of the United Peace Corps, and one term as Lieutenant Governor of Ohio. Equally at ease in the private sector, Dick was a Managing Partner of Celeste and Sabety Ltd., an economic development consultancy.

Active in academia before arriving at CC, Dick was a Rhodes Scholar and Yale graduate who served as a visiting fellow in public policy at Case Western University. He currently is Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Health Effects Institute in Boston, an Advisory Board member of Stonebridge International, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a lifetime National Associate of the National Academies. Dick is an advisory board member of the Institute of International Education. He is president of the Colorado Springs Downtown Partnership and a board member to the Glimcher Realty Trust and the Garden City Company boards.
