WICHE & WCET Win Grant to Improve Transparency & Accountability in Adult Higher Education

The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) and its learning arm, WCET, have been awarded a $629,000 grant by Lumina Foundation for Education to promote an ambitious initiative that will provide adult learners with greatly enhanced access to information about how online colleges and universities succeed in helping students meet specific professional goals and prepare for their careers. (Franklin University is one of 14 adult-serving higher education institutions participating in this online learning initiative).

Franklin Holds 130th Commencement Ceremony

Franklin University will hold its 130th Commencement Ceremony, during which nearly 700 degree candidates will receive their diplomas at Veterans Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, January 4, 2008. Dr. Valeriana Moeller, President of Columbus State Community College will address the graduates.  During the 130th Commencement Ceremony, Dr. Valeriana Moeller and Donald Dunn will both receive an Honorary Doctorate of Community Leadership.



Weiler Joins the Franklin University Leadership Center as a Leader-In-Residence

Police Involved Shooting

Released October 22, 2008

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2008 an altercation occurred shortly after 9 p.m. at Franklin University between a Columbus Division of Police Officer working Special Duty at the University and an unnamed individual.  The incident started in an alley near campus and ended on the sidewalk near one of the University buildings.  During the altercation, the officer was assaulted and has since been treated and released.  The unnamed individual was injured and went to Grant Hospital.  At this time there is no indication that the unnamed individual has any relationship to the University, its staff, faculty or students.



Franklin to Offer MBA in Poland

Franklin is proud to announce it will offer its MBA program to students in Poland beginning next year under an agreement with a Polish institution, the Wroclaw School of Banking (WSB). Additionally, Franklin is collaborating on the development of a Polish-language MBA degree offered by WSB, which is a fully accredited institution offering bachelor's and master's degrees in 25 areas of study. This agreement represents Franklin's first international program offering, and also WSB's first collaboration with an American institution.

Franklin Holds 129th Commencement Ceremony

Franklin University will hold its 129th Commencement Ceremony, during which over 500 degree candidates will receive their diplomas at Veterans Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, August 17. Craig Domanik will address the graduates.  A Franklin Student Leaders Scholar, Domanik is Director of Provider Enrollment for Palmetto GBA.  During the 129th Commencement Ceremony, Dr. Paul Otte and Floyd V. Jones will both receive an Honorary Doctorate of Community Leadership.



Franklin Participates in Seniors to Sophomores Program

Franklin Expands Its Main Campus Downtown with Opening of Main Street Building

Columbus Team Takes Second Place in International Competition

Franklin University is pleased to announce that a team of its Vantage MBA students has received global recognition by tying for second place in the "GLO-BUS" international business competition.  This year's competition engaged 411 teams from 38 universities worldwide in a global business simulation.



East Central Community College Joins Franklin's Community College Alliance (CCA)

Dr. Doug Ross Named 2008 Outstanding Marketing Educator

Dr. Doug Ross, Program Chair of the Master of Science in Marketing and Communication (MCM) Program at Franklin, has been named the 2008 Outstanding Marketing Educator by the American Marketing Association.  Ross' nomination was based upon his contributions to the marketing field both in his work at Franklin University as well as his contributions to the Professional Certified Marketer Preparation Course that the Columbus AMA holds each year.



Robert L. Bailey Award Recipients Announced

Franklin is pleased to announce the election of Thomas Shoupe as its newest Board of Trustees member.  Shoupe currently serves as Senior Vice President at Honda of America Mfg., General Manager of Support Services. Appointed to this position and promoted to Senior Vice President in 2006, Shoupe is responsible for  the Administration, Company Services, Accounting & Finance, Information Services and Compliance & Ethics teams.  He is also a member of the Honda Operations Committee, serving with the company president and other senior officers on this policy-making group.
