UNPRECEDENTED COLLEGE GROWTH LEADS TO UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP
Columbus State Students to use Franklin University Facilities

(Columbus, OH) - With early estimates showing yet another record quarter of enrollment for Columbus State Community College (CSCC), Franklin University has offered some of its facilities to ease overcrowding in classrooms and parking areas during CSCC's busiest times: mornings and afternoons.

Beginning in January, CSCC will offer at least 42 different class sections Monday-Thursday at Franklin University's Main Campus, downtown, located less than a mile from the Columbus State campus. "Classes on those days typically fill up quickly," says Will Kopp, Vice President of Institutional Advancement. "Having more classrooms and parking areas will allow us to meet the still-growing demand."

Sherry Mercurio, Director of Public Relations for Franklin University says "It's a win-win situation for both of our institutions. Since a majority of our classes are held in the evenings we have daytime space for Columbus State Students. Plus, we already share a 3 + 1 study program where students begin at Columbus State and finish their degrees at Franklin. This arrangement will allow students to become instantly familiar with Franklin's campus."

All CSCC classes held at Franklin will be held in Phillips Hall, at the corner of Main and Grant. A student parking lot is next to the building which will allow Columbus State students attending classes at on Franklin's campus with a valid Columbus State parking permit to park until 5:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

The CSCC courses to be offered at Franklin are among those highest in demand. They include English 100 and 101, Math 102 and 103, Psychology 100, Developmental Education 031 and 041, and Biology 100. The schedule at Franklin has been designed so that many students should be able to take two or three classes there at a time.

In addition, a Columbus State academic advisor and site specialist will be available on the second floor of Phillips Hall while Columbus State classes are in session throughout the quarter.
