Franklin University Appoints
Dr. Doug Ross

Program Chair of the MBA Program

 

Columbus, Ohio – Franklin University, a leading educator of working adults in central Ohio, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Doug Ross as Program Chair for the MBA Program.  In this role, Dr. Ross will be responsible for the management and oversight of all aspects of the MBA, with additional responsibilities for pioneering curriculum initiatives and Program growth.

“Dr. Ross has been an integral part of the growth and leadership of the College of Business,” said Dr. Tomas Parks, Dean of the College of Business.  “I am excited about the enthusiasm and expertise that Dr. Ross brings to the position. He will be a positive influence for the MBA and College on campus and have a significant impact on the future of the program. Dr. Ross brings the knowledge of Franklin and the external perspective necessary for the MBA Program’s ongoing success.”

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Ross has served as Chair of Franklin’s M.S. in Marketing & Communication Program, lead faculty in the MBA and undergraduate Marketing Programs, Chair of Franklin’s undergraduate Marketing Program, and Assistant Dean of Marketing & Communication for Franklin’s undergraduate Marketing Major and its undergraduate Applied Communication Major. His work has been published in several academic journals, including the Journal of Business Ethics, Business Horizons, and the Journal of Nonprofit and Public Sector Marketing.

Dr. Ross is the only Franklin University professor to win the Robert L. Bailey Teaching Award at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, a distinction voted on by Franklin students each term to acknowledge the professor who was most influential in their programs. Additionally, he is the only educator to receive the Columbus American Marketing Association (AMA) Marketing Professor of the Year honor three times. His accolades include winning the AMA Achievement in Marketing Award in 2006 for his innovative “Faces of Franklin” campaign. 

With more than 20 years of industry experience and consulting in both large and small corporate settings, as well as in goods and services marketing, Dr. Ross has a client list that includes Nationwide Insurance, Mount Carmel, Miami University, Columbus State Community College, the Ohio Bar Association, BMW Financial, Technical Rubber, and The Columbus Dispatch. 

Before joining Franklin, Dr. Ross taught at a number of universities, including the University of Northern Colorado, the University of Colorado (Denver Branch), New Mexico State University, and Chadron State College. 

He received his Ph.D. from New Mexico State University and holds M.S. and B.S. degrees from Colorado State University.
