Interview Summary
As the economy struggles to recover from the recession and the employment market changes due to technology, outsourcing, and globalization, many adults are going back to school to retool and make themselves more employable.  

Franklin University provides the opportunity for these non-traditional students to earn a competitive edge by offering curriculum in majors that appeal to areas of high job market demand.  In addition, evening and online classes, in addition to location at Franklin University provide access to students who would otherwise have to take time away from their jobs and families to earn a degree.

Student Service Associates and faculty members also help provide a competitive edge for these adult students by working to identify student interests as well as develop majors that are appropriate for the new job market.  

Although Franklin University has already met these needs, many traditional colleges and universities will need to adapt how and what they offer to meet the changing student landscape.

Dr. Christopher Washington serves as the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. In this role he is responsible for all undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as academic faculty and staff members. Additionally, Dr. Washington leads all efforts to build on the quality of Franklin’s academic programs and continue the innovation process within the University’s academic model.
