—
Columbus, Ohio —On Saturday, Oct. 1, Franklin University will hold a commencement ceremony in Wroclaw, Poland, to celebrate the graduation of its first international MBA cohort. The graduating cohort consists of 27 students who completed the Franklin MBA through classes taught at the Wroclaw School of Banking (WSB) in Wroclaw, Poland.
Saturday’s Commencement Ceremony will include presentations by the following Franklin officials:
- President David Decker – Opening remarks and diploma presentation
- Dr. Christopher Washington, Provost and Senior V.P. for Academic Affairs –Candidate presentation
- Dr. Doug Ross, Program Chair, MBA - Franklin University address
In addition to being recognized as the first global Franklin MBA cohort, a group of students from this cohort received international acclaim this past July for participating in GLOBUS, a global business simulation designed by McGraw-Hill to educate students in business strategy. The team finished first out of 491 teams from 51 colleges and universities around the world, attaining the highest possible score of all participants.
With the third Franklin MBA cohort scheduled to begin classes in mid-October, students at WSB now have the new credential of being enrolled in a program designated the highest “Degree of Internationalization” of all programs in Poland by Home and Market magazine. This latest accolade provides validation that a Franklin University education truly has global appeal.
Courses in the Franklin MBA Program are taught in English by a combination of Columbus-based Franklin faculty members traveling to Poland, European faculty members from WSB, as well as by faculty from other institutions. Saturday’s graduating MBA cohort were taught by seven visiting Franklin University faculty members and two visiting professors from Slovakia and Poland. Courses in the Franklin MBA offered at WSB include: MBA Foundations, Business Environment, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Managerial Economics, International Business Management, Operations and Project Management, Financial and Managerial Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Strategic Management.
In 2008 Franklin University announced it would offer its MBA Program to students in Poland under an agreement with WSB. Today, Franklin’s MBA Program is offered internationally through agreements with institutions in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
