Franklin’s First Polish MBA Students Win GLO-BUS Competition

—

Columbus, OH and Wroclaw, Poland - Franklin University is proud to announce a team of its MBA students have won this year’s GLO-BUS competition.  The team, comprised of students from Franklin’s first MBA cohort from the Wroclaw School of Banking in Poland, finished first out of 491 teams from 51 colleges and universities.  Adding accolades to winning the competition, the team also received the highest possible score.

Franklin students participate in GLO-BUS, a global business simulation designed by McGraw-Hill to educate students in business strategy, as part of the MBA capstone. In this completely online, week-long exercise, teams of students run an imaginary digital camera company in head-to-head competition against companies run by other class members.

Each team makes decisions that are submitted by a due date, after which the simulation “turns” one year. The next financial year shows which teams have met investor expectations and which is the most profitable in the industry. The five criteria through which companies are ranked are earnings per share, credit rating, stock price, return on equity, and image rating.

The exercise is an ideal opportunity for Franklin MBA students to display everything they’ve learned in the program and translate it into a real-world situation. And the value of what Franklin students are learning in the program is demonstrated by how they fare against teams of students from other institutions.

In October, these students, along with their cohort, will be the first MBA graduates from one of Franklin’s international partner schools.
