Franklin University of Ohio Announces Plans for
Indianapolis Location

Indianapolis and Columbus, Ohio - Franklin University, the Midwest's most experienced educator of adult students, today announced plans to open a location on the north side of Indianapolis.

Founded in Columbus, Ohio in 1902, Franklin University has been serving adult students for more than 100 years. Plans to bring this expertise to Indianapolis creates new opportunity for adult students to earn the education they need to enter the job market, advance their current careers or pursue a new career.

"We selected Indianapolis as Franklin University's first expansion site due to the city's many similarities to Columbus and the alignment between Indiana's projected employment growth and Franklin's academic programs", said Dr. David Decker, President of Franklin University.  "Given Indiana's goal to increase the number of degree holders and the growing demand for adult degree programs, I believe the uniqueness of our approach to instruction will provide a great benefit to Indianapolis."

Franklin University's plan to expand into Indianapolis signifies a milestone for Franklin as it marks the University's first domestic expansion as part of a strategic growth plan that includes expanding beyond the school's Main Campus and three suburban locations in central Ohio into other Midwest and international markets.

The University is working closely with two governing bodies, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) as well as the Indiana Commission on Proprietary Education (ICOPE).  The application process for both has been completed and ICOPE granted the University applicant status in February. The HLC application process was launched in February and is currently scheduled to be finalized at its June meeting.
