Franklin University Board of Trustees
Elect Three New Trustee Members

 

Columbus, Ohio – Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults, is pleased to announce the election of Bruce Hagen, Matthew Jauchius, and Judy Huang to its Board of Trustees.  All three new members were recommended during its January meeting.

“The election of these business leaders to the Franklin University Board of Trustees expands the professional experience and knowledge needed to oversee Franklin University’s continued growth and success,” said Melissa Ingwersen, Chair of the Franklin University Board of Trustees.

Bruce Hagen Background

As President of Riverside Methodist Hospital, Hagen is responsible for strategic planning and day-to-day operations for Riverside and its affiliated work areas.  His more than 30 years of experience in healthcare includes serving as Executive Vice President-Hospitals/Chief Operating Officer for Spectrum Health and as Assistant Vice President at Wausau Hospital Center. He also served with the Bureau of Quality Compliance, part of the Wisconsin Department of Health, and with Skaalen Sunset Home, Inc., in Wisconsin. 

Hagen received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business administration. He is a fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives, and has been affiliated with many community service programs, including the Board of Directors of the Grand Rapids Community College Foundation and the Board of Directors of the Gerald R. Ford Council of Boy Scouts.

Judy Huang Background

Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, Huang serves as President of 889 Global Strategies, a consultancy/importer providing strategic advice and sourcing clients headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, with five offices and representatives in China.  Her extensive contacts in consulting, government, manufacturing, and actual operation experience give her unique value.

As President of 889 Global Strategies, Huang has sourced both consumer and industrial products for companies in multiple industries, a team of Chinese local counterparts for inspection and quality control of Chinese manufacturers, and sales consultancy services and establishment of Joint Venture or WOFE entities for U.S. companies looking to invest in China.       

In 1993 Huang founded and was President of BSH Estates Ltd., the second licensed real-estate company in Beijing. With strong marketing and interpersonal skills, Huang made BSH Estates profitable within 90 days of start-up and was profitable in each year she was President.

Huang earned a bachelor of arts in business from Boston College, and CIEBS/Executive MBA in Beijing.

Matthew Jauchius Background

As the Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Jauchius is responsible for the overall strategic leadership for $20 billion (revenue) diversified financial services at Nationwide. In his role, Jauchius is responsible for leading the annual strategic planning process and design of major initiatives, including agent and direct distribution, company expense levels and organization structure, growth strategies, and performance management.

Prior to joining Nationwide, Jauchius worked with McKinsey & Company, Inc. where he led concurrent client-service project teams; Bank One Corporation as Audit Supervisor/Capital Markets; and Ernst & Young as a Senior Accountant, Audit Specialist.

Jauchius earned his MBA from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.  He is a Certified Public Accountant (State of Ohio), and resides in Worthington with his wife and three children.

Franklin University is committed to building strategic relationships within the community. Currently 24 local business leaders make up the Franklin University Board of Trustees (along with seven emeriti members).
