Franklin University Student Awarded Ohio CPA Scholarship
—
Columbus, Ohio – Franklin University, a leading educator of working adults in Central Ohio, congratulates Raed Yaish, a current student in Franklin’s Accounting and Financial Management majors, for being named an Ohio CPA Foundation Scholarship Day winner during this year’s annual Scholarship Day event.
The 11th annual Scholarship Day, hosted by the Ohio CPA (OSCPA) Foundation for six of Ohio’s leading accounting students, brings outstanding accounting students together with OSCPA members for a day of high-stakes competition, networking, and fun. Candidates in the annual event compete for a $3,000 scholarship award and recognition as the Foundation’s top scholarship recipient, as well as selection to represent their region at the statewide competition. Students in this year’s competition represented Ashland University, Case Western Reserve University, Franklin University, Miami University, University of Dayton, and Xavier University.
During Scholarship Day, candidates meet with OSCPA members who serve as judges to assess individual understanding of issues affecting the CPA profession. The students are questioned during eight fast-paced individual and one panel interview.
Because the candidates were so impressive, the judges decided to award a second place scholarship of $1,500 to Yaish.
All scholarships awarded by the Ohio CPA Foundation will be directed to the recipient’s university and applied to their fall 2011 tuition and fees.
