U.S. LABOR DEPARTMENT'S OSHA
NAMES FRANKLIN UNIVERSITY
GREAT LAKES REGIONAL OTI EDUCATION CENTER

Columbus, Ohio - Enhancing the safety and health of workers in central Ohio through education is the goal of a new host site designation granted by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) upon Franklin University. Under the terms of this new agreement, Franklin University will join a consortium of training centers at University of Cincinnati, the Department of Environmental Health Continuing Education Office, Eastern Michigan University, and the United Auto Workers in serving as host sites to deliver training aimed at reducing the incidence of workplace safety issues.

Training and education are vital components in workplace safety," said Dr. Garry McDaniel, Associate Dean of Franklin's Center for Professional Training and Development. "Being named a host site by OSHA will allow Franklin University to take a role in providing central Ohio's workers with the knowledge and ability to identify and prevent hazardous conditions before they cause injury or illness".

Under the rules of the consortium, Franklin University and OSHA will work jointly to develop and deliver training and education programs focusing on workplace hazards.
