Columbus, Ohio – Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults in Central Ohio, is proud to announce the appointment of Stephanie C. Carson to its Undergraduate Public Relations Advisory Board. Advisory board members provide information related to the most recent trends in each field of discipline to help shape program outcomes and ensure the relevancy of the program, course content, and materials. Reputation- and relationship-focused, the Public Relations Major is designed to help students develop and maintain a positive public image for organizations, helping to strengthen current and future external relationships by mastering the written, verbal, and visual elements that go into building an effective public image. The Public Relations Major at Franklin University teaches students how public relations can be used to support and promote broad aspects of business operations; find creative ways to generate no-cost marketing opportunities and strategic relationships with community organizations; learn to create press pitches and releases that get noticed by media outlets; develop PR materials and campaigns for new media such as blogs, websites, podcasts, and streaming video; study crisis communication, ethics, and research methodologies; and network with professionals from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Carson comes to the Franklin Public Relations Advisory Board as a seasoned media and PR professional and Principal of Out of the Box Productions in Asheville, N.C. She has been a location producer for both Good Morning America and World News Tonight, a reporter for several CBS affiliates, and a field producer at Bloomberg Financial News. While at Bloomberg, she represented the organization in the White House travel pool. Carson is the recipient of 12 Emmy Award nominations and two Emmy Awards for her work. Additionally, Carson won the 2008 National Edward R. Murrow Award. She was a Fellow at the Washington Center for Politics and Journalism and holds two BA degrees from the University of Georgia. |
