Columbus, Ohio — Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults in central Ohio, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ron Morgan to the newly created position of Dean of Academic Technology and Innovation. The creation of this new position allows Morgan to rejoin the academic affairs unit in a role that will develop strategies and plans for scalable and sustainable growth for all academic initiatives. As Dean of Academic Technology, Morgan’s attention will be centered on technology innovation, alignment of technology services and academic initiatives, and the adequate and smooth adaptation of new technology into Franklin’s academic products and community. He will also have responsibility for Academic Information Services, which include the Learning Management Systems team, Quality Assurance Analysts, Business Analysts, and the Multimedia team. Prior to this appointment Morgan served as Franklin University’s Chief Information Officer where he set strategy aimed at aligning Franklin’s mission of serving its students as a technology innovator. As Chief Information Officer, Morgan was responsible for the Technology Infrastructure Group, Desktop Services, University Information Systems, and the Application Development team members responsible for the University’s Web sites. Prior to this appointment Morgan served as the Program Chair for the undergraduate Management Information Sciences major where he also had responsibility for the Technology Leadership Focus in the MBA program. The Management Information Sciences major (MIS) at Franklin University bridges the gap between management and technology by emphasizing the application of computer technologies and information management methods in order to analyze, design and implement business applications and systems for enterprise and work group systems.Morgan is a seasoned information technology executive with more than 25 years of experience, 15 serving in senior management roles. His professional focus has been to add value to business operations and deliver information critical to the needs of executive decision-makers by focusing on the external customer and ensuring the alignment of information with business objectives. Morgan has applied his ability to analyze, strategize, organize and manage processes and people in a variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, distribution, consumer goods, manufacturing and software development. He has B.S. (University of Delaware) and M.S. (Kansas State University) degrees in Computer Science and an MBA (University of Chicago) in Finance and Marketing. Past professional positions include Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for DuPont Pharmaceuticals in Wilmington, Delaware, Chief Information Officer for PurchasingFirst.com, in Dublin, Ohio, and Senior Vice President of MIS for the Distribution Company division of Cardinal Health in Dublin, Ohio. Ron enjoyed 15 years with Monsanto Corporation’s Searle Pharmaceuticals and NutraSweet divisions as Senior Director of Information Systems, and was the Senior Director of Information Systems for G.D. Searle & Company.
