Franklin University Announces
New Safety, Security & Emergency Management Major

Columbus, Ohio - Franklin University, a leading educator of working adults, is pleased to announce the addition of a new Safety, Security & Emergency Management major to its on-campus and online offerings beginning in Fall 2009.

Franklin's new Safety, Security & Emergency Management major is designed to prepare students to meet the leadership and management challenges of the fields of public safety or private security.

Public safety, private security, and emergency management are all areas that have become more complex and challenging over the past decade.  As a result of this complexity, public safety agencies such as police, fire, EMS, and the EMA now collaborate more extensively than in the past.  Additionally, private security is experiencing rapid growth as both corporate and private entities address their safety and security concerns.

Students graduating with a degree in Safety, Security & Emergency Management will have the skills needed to manage the demands and challenges of supervision and leadership within a variety of public safety or private security settings. Franklin's Safety, Security & Emergency Management major exposes students to topics such as emergency management, homeland security, risk management and threat assessment, safety and security planning, and other related subjects.

Graduates of Franklin's Safety, Security & Emergency Management will be well-qualified for a wide variety of positions in areas of law enforcement, corrections, fire service, emergency management, homeland security, and corporate and private security.
