Student IT Assistant
Franklin University is seeking a motivated Franklin University student with excellent communication skills to assist our Technical Infrastructure and Network Services team with break/fix, hardware and software installation, administration, and documentation. In addition, the student assistant may assist in project implementations of systems and services across the areas of MS Windows Server, Linux server, Office 365 Email & SharePoint, networking, cabling, telephone, datacenter operations, and storage and backup.
Duties include, but are not limited to, basic administration of Linux and Windows operating systems, Office 365 Email and SharePoint, account management, backup system operations, drafting and updating technical systems and network documentation; maintaining device inventories, assisting in the configuration and deployment of new hardware such as servers and network equipment.
Hours are flexible and will vary depending on the candidate’s availability and the workload of the department. The ideal candidate will be able to work 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (hours may vary depending on need).
Successful candidates will have familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, good analytical and problem solving skills, work effectively as part of a team, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds. The ideal candidate will also have strong fundamental technical skills and will be pursuing studies in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, and/or Cybersecurity.
