University Information Systems Student Assistant
The department of University Information Systems (UIS) provides student information systems, database management, document management, customer relationship management, reporting, web development, and integration support for Franklin University, Ohio National University and Urbana University. The UIS department is currently looking for a student who is as passionate about Information systems as the UIS team. The student should be ready to learn SQL, report development, integration services and other tools used by the University in support of its business operations.
Please note that the student will have access to business sensitive information and will be asked to sign an agreement to not disclose any information they may access during their employment.
Student will report to the UIS Department’s Senior Systems Engineer.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Create SSRS accounts
- Create CRM accounts
- Grant permission to users within SSRS Franklin and Urbana
- Write simple queries
- Develop reports
- Assist in troubleshooting issues within current systems
- Assist in monitoring daily SSIS jobs
- Assist in monitoring queries run time
- Assist in testing of production ready applications.
- Assist in testing of web related activities. Note: if student has web development experience, some activities may involve programming.
- Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate must be: A team player; Customer-centered focus required and strong ability to learn, strong attention to detail; professional and positive attitude and communication style; Ability to multi task when needed; Have a background and/or interest in computer science or related field; Successfully completed or currently enrolled in the MIT/ITEC 281, COMP 380 or equivalent.
Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
- 20 hours maximum with active student status (exceptions may apply)
- Excellent and readily observable interpersonal, verbal, written and listening skills
- IT or Computer Science major is strongly recommended
Hours are flexible and will vary depending on the candidate’s availability and the workload of the department. The ideal candidate will be able to work 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (hours may vary depending on need).
