Partner Frequently Asked Questions
Franklin University partners with K–12 school districts, educational organizations and employers seeking to develop and retain talent. These partnerships are ideal for organizations focused on building sustainable educator pipelines, upskilling current employees, and supporting long-term workforce needs.
Partner organizations have a collaborative role by supporting placement opportunities for candidates when available, providing qualified cooperating teachers, maintaining communication with the COE, and executing a partnership agreement (MOU). Franklin will manage the administrative coordination to try to keep the process efficient for partners, but communication between the two is key.
Partnership timelines vary, but most can be established within a few weeks if not a few hours. Finalization is dependent on the potential partners’ agreement review and internal approval processes. Franklin’s system will be updated at the end of every month to include your organization for our tuition benefits once the MOU agreement is fully executed.
Program availability for teacher preparation programs varies by state. Click to learn about program availability by state.
Franklin University collaborates with partner organizations to place candidates for licensure so that requirements and program expectations are met. The university works with the district to identify qualified cooperating teachers based upon state-specific required criteria. Placements are structured through a Phase I and Phase II setting as students progress through the program. This process ensures consistency, compliance, and a strong experience for both the candidate and the host school.
We can support "grow your own” initiatives, when placements meet licensure and program alignment requirements. We will meet with employed students to understand their employment situation and determine what will work within our structured model.
State and program requirements typically state that cooperating teachers must:
- Hold a valid teaching license in the appropriate content area
- Teach within the grade level or subject area aligned to the candidate
- Meet the Science of Reading requirements for your state
- Have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience
- Be recommended or approved by their school or district organization
- Complete any additional state requirements (e.g. Ohio’s Science of Reading Training) to be eligible to host
Franklin will work with partners to ensure that all criteria are met for placement and provide support throughout the process.
Additional requirements may apply depending on your state
Franklin University offers associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in business, education, healthcare and technology. All programs consist of online coursework and many can be completed 100% online. District employees are eligible for a tuition discount once employment has been verified.
