Understanding Microaggressions

The Diversity Dimensions Committee invites you to join us as we welcome Dr. Lori Bailey, Program Chair, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program, on Wednesday, June 29^th at 12:00 pm for a presentation on Microaggressions.

Microaggressions are defined by Oxford’s English Dictionary as statements, actions, or incidents that are regarded as instances of indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination against members of marginalized groups such as racial or ethnic minorities.

During this presentation, Dr. Bailey will further elaborate on the definition on microaggressions while also discussing the various forms they take and the messages they convey to member of marginalized groups. Dr. Bailey will also provide us with tools that we can use to educate ourselves and others when microaggressions occur.
