University Business Magazine Honors Franklin University For Being A “Model of Excellence”

Columbus, OH (August 1, 2016)

Franklin University is proud to announce its selection as one of nine colleges and universities nationwide being honored by University Business magazine in its Summer 2016 Models of Excellence recognition program for its MyTransferCredit transfer credit college course equivalency tool. Sponsored by CASHNet, the Models of Excellence program recognizes innovative approaches to encouraging and nurturing student success on campus.

“At Franklin University, automating the credit reviewing process acts as an excellent customer service for prospective students, answering their questions and inspiring confidence in the school simultaneously,” says University Business senior editor Tim Goral.

More than 90 percent of Franklin students transfer prior college coursework. To help applicants more quickly determine which of their earned credits will transfer to Franklin, how long it will take them to finish their degree based on that information, and what it will cost, administrators spent about seven months building a web-based application linked to a robust articulation database. The app, rolled out in July 2014 and named MyTransferCredit, has shortened that window of up to a few weeks to just a few short seconds.

But not only do prospective students get answers to their questions almost immediately, MyTransferCredit also shows users other degree programs within Franklin that could enable the student to graduate faster or for less money, identifying the best and fastest path to graduation.

Franklin’s constantly-updated database, which includes more than 120,000 course equivalencies from 2,000-plus colleges and universities, was leveraged to create the tool. While the initial transfer credit evaluation is unofficial, its accuracy rate of more than 97 percent has provided important transparency, albeit unofficial, to what a student can expect with an official transcript.

“The Summer 2016 Models of Excellence honorees demonstrate how inclusivity and personalized attention for all students benefits higher education holistically,” says Edward Worrilow, head of marketing and communications at CASHNet. “We are pleased to recognize their efforts alongside University Business.”

Launched in 2015, Models of Excellence is a national recognition program honoring colleges and universities that have implemented innovative, effective and inter-departmental initiatives that are bolstering student success. The program is sponsored by CASHNet, a leading payment technology provider in higher education that allows institutions to simplify electronic billing, accept payments all over campus, offer flexible payments plans, create online storefronts, and more all on one secure platform.
