Franklin University Hosts Collegiate Insurance Challenge to Resolve Real-World Industry Challenges

Franklin University, a leader in adult education, will host insurance students from colleges across Ohio this week in a competition designed to spur career interest in the insurance industry – an industry viewed as a major economic driver, employing more than 1.5 million people in the United States and over 108,000 in Ohio.

Organized by Fundación MAPFRE, the Insurance Collegiate Challenge will take place:

  • October 25         Bowling Green State University                Regional Competition
  • October 26         The University of Akron                            Regional Competition
  • October 27         Franklin University                                    State Competition

The Insurance Collegiate Challenge introduces students to the various roles within the insurance industry, simulating real-world industry challenges that the students need to tackle. The competition tests students’ abilities in strategic planning, decision-making, collaboration and other essential skills for operating a successful insurance company.

“The insurance industry offers many opportunities for growth across a variety of interesting career paths,” said Alfredo Castelo, Chief Representative of Fundación MAPFRE in the United States. “We are pleased to organize this competition, which provides valuable industry insights for aspiring insurance professionals.”

Students from Ohio Dominican University and Shawnee State University will join the teams from Bowling Green State University, The University of Akron and Franklin University to compete in the three-day competition, which culminates with the state championship and award presentation.
