Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults, is pleased to announce its selection as a 2020 TD Ameritrade NextGen Grant recipient. TD Ameritrade Institutional, a champion of registered investment advisors (RIAs) selected Franklin as one of only six universities to receive the grant. Now in its eighth year, the 2020 TD Ameritrade NextGen Grant recognizes schools that have demonstrated a commitment to educate and train future financial planners by awarding a $15,000 grant.

The 2020 TD Ameritrade NextGen Grant will help support Franklin University’s long-standing commitment to student success. Grant funding will be used to help strengthen Franklin's Financial Planning (FP) program and assist the financial planning industry by graduating more highly qualified FP students. Specific outcomes will include:

  • Real-world interaction for new financial planning students with financial planning practitioners
  • Hands-on customer experience from providing financial navigation
  • Intensive learning through peer-to-peer teaching of budgeting and financial planning principles

Leading the University’s implementation of the grant is Dr. Martina Peng, CFP®, chair, Department of Accounting, Finance and Risk Management at Franklin. “The pilot project, which will connect our first-semester financial planning students with the independent financial advisory industry, will be implemented this Fall,” shared Dr. Peng. “Providing this new accessibility adds yet another point of distinction to Franklin’s best-practice education, taught by industry professionals who help prepare our students for successful careers, whether in the corporate world or directly with individuals and families.”

As Ohio’s #1 online financial planning degrees, the 2020 TD Ameritrade NextGen Grant will expand Franklin’s comprehensive financial planning curriculum which helps prepares students for the frontlines of this flourishing field. Franklin’s Financial Planning curriculum is certified by the CFP Board; and upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Exam, the most prestigious certification in the field.
