Franklin’s Sport program launches “Get in the Game,” Speaker Series

Adding to its list of student engagement resources, Franklin’s Sports Management program, part of the College of Health & Public Administration, is proud to announce its Get in the Game: Business of Sports Speaker Series. The new speaker series kicks off Thursday, Aug. 13 at 7:30 p.m. (EST) with premium sales executive, Matt Melchior from the Denver Broncos.

Sports is big business and the business is changing rapidly. According to the Business Research Company, today’s global sports industry is worth over $500 billion and growing. As a leading educator, it’s Franklin’s goal to provide sports-minded individuals with a comprehensive introduction to a variety of roles within this in-demand industry. The Business of Sports Speaker series, led by Franklin’s Sport Management chair, Bradley Kocher, speaks to all forms of sports management, including: business, marketing, sales and coaching, to showcase the behind the scenes of the game. Attendees will have an exclusive opportunity to hear from top experts in the field, while learning about unique career opportunities.

Sports Management at Franklin
Franklin’s sport management curriculum unites sport science research and sport industry theory with practical knowledge. The B.S. in Sports Management major provides a background of essential business concepts to build leadership skills and style to excel in the sports industry. Franklin faculty provide practical experience paired with an on-site field experience at an organization tailored to its students.
