FAFSA 2024-25 Additional Data Delay
In December, the Department of Education (ED) had assured that institutions would receive data from the 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by at least the end of January. However, that assurance has not materialized as colleges and universities across the country have been informed that student FAFSA data will not be sent to institutions until at least mid-March. The unexpected change in the timeline will cause further delay in the financial aid process for the Summer 2024 - Spring 2025 financial aid award year.
How does this impact students?
Since Franklin University will not receive your FAFSA data from the Department of Education until at least mid-March of 2024, we are unable to do the following:
- Assign required documents to your account that may impact financial aid
- Make corrections to FAFSA data
- Determine financial aid offers for eligible students
Students are still able to enroll in summer 2024 classes when registration begins on February 26. In the meantime, we recommend checking out the various scholarship opportunities Franklin offers. In addition to scholarships, many employers offer benefits to support their employees' education. If you are currently employed, it's worth checking with your HR department to see if there are any tuition reimbursement or education assistance programs available.
Franklin University recognizes the impact that this delay could have on your college planning process and want to assure you that our Financial Aid Office and Student Financial Services teams are committed to helping you and your family navigate this process. We will continue to keep you informed as we work toward finalizing our timeline for financial aid processes for the upcoming academic year.
For additional information on the overall changes for the 2024-25 FAFSA, please refer to our December 20, 2023 blog.
