Virtual Community of Practice

The Faculty Development Committee in collaboration with the Center for Teaching Excellence is excited to introduce the launch of the Franklin Teaching Community on Microsoft Yammer. The virtual community of practice (VCoP) will serve as a platform for empowering faculty to support one another and stay connected to the broader teaching community. Within the VCoP, faculty can harness the power of over 500 experienced instructors as we seek to foster collaborative problem solving around the art and craft of effective teaching and learning.

The Franklin Teaching Community will launch in late May/early June, and users will be notified by email when the VCoP becomes available.

New LMS Partnership

Franklin University is pleased to announce a partnership with Canvas, an open source LMS used by universities including Rutgers, Utah State, Oregon State, and UC Davis.  Canvas is an industry leader in LMS features and growth, and permits the use of third-party content development tools and plug-ins that will enhance course offerings and student experiences. 

Doctoral courses will be migrated to Canvas starting in Summer 2020.  More details will become available as the migration date nears.  In the meantime, learn more about the open source LMS here.
